Our guest speaker will be Harold D. "Buster" Hatcher, Chief of the Waccamaw Indian Tribe.  Chief Hatcher is a retired Army 82nd Airborne Chief Warrant Officer and Purple Heart recipient, who will speak about his tribe's history and status as well as his perspectives on leadership and community service.  A brief bio of Chief Hatcher can be found at the bottom of this page.

We will also be recognizing this year's top Junior ROTC scholarship winning cadets from Myrtle Beach High School, North Myrtle Beach High School, Loris High School and Georgetown High School, as well as several of the JROTC instructors across the region.  Come meet these impressive future leaders and their families and help congratulate and celebrate their amazing achievements.

Social hour begins at 1130AM, meeting starts at noon, and lunch will be served at 1220PM.  Chief Hatcher will speak at 1PM & JROTC recognition will follow the Chief's talk.  Dress is business casual and cost will be $25.00/person.  Spouses and other guests are encouraged to attend and enjoy lunch overlooking the Waccamaw river.

Given the global pandemic, Kimbels and the Grand Strand Chapter will be taking several precautions to help keep luncheon attendees safe.  These include:

     - temperature taking upon arrival (with a non-contact infrared thermometer)

     - disposable gloves to those who want them (if you wish to wear a mask, please bring your own)

     - Kimbels staff will serve food to guests in a buffet line in appropriate safety attire and avoid shared food or drink containers at the tables

     - Kimbels staff will sanitize facilities, high touch points, restrooms, etc. and provide hand sanitizer stations

     - Tables and guests are socially distanced (limited to 70 attendees) with 4 or 6 seats per table

If you have any additional concerns, questions or suggestions about event safety precautions, please contact Jim Albert, Chapter President, via email: james.r.albert@att.net or text/cell: 203-509-8555.

Presenting the Colors at this luncheon is still to be determined as ROTC and JROTC units across the region are closed due to the pandemic.

Chief Harold "Buster" Hatcher is married to his wife Susan Hayes Hatcher, and leads over 400 members of the first, state-recognized Native American tribe.  He is a 2018 recipient of the Jefferson Award for exceptional public and community service and is a retired Chief Warrant Officer and Purple Heart recipient, having served proudly in the Army 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam, getting shot three times.  Buster is a no-nonsense man who is passionate about his tribe and their history and culture.  Thanks to the generosity of Shaun and Shirley Perkins, the Waccamaw Indian Tribe tribal headquarters can be found on 20 acres in the ancestral Dog Bluffs community near Aynor, SC.  Chief Hatcher and his tribe continue to fight every day for Native American rights, including the right to claim and honor the remains of ancient tribe members and artifacts discovered during land development across the region.
