Speakers: Laura Long and Abby Berjansky from Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, a non-profit Hospice & Palliative Care agency. Their biographies are at the bottom of this meeting reminder.
Program: Our speakers will discuss the “We Honor Veterans Program" for which the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare agency has received Level 4 Horry County/SC and Level 5/NC designations, as well as discussing other topics of interest to our members.

Social time begins at 11:30 AM with our program starting at 12:00 PM. We expect to conclude around 1:45PM.

Dinner is $30 per person. PAYMENT MAY BE MADE BY CREDIT CARD ON-LINE, or by check, cash or credit card at the door. Either way, prior registration is essential as we need to provide a pre-headcount to our dining club host.
Dress is business casual. You are encouraged to bring your spouse and other guests, especially if those guests are prospective members or are members who attend the dinners infrequently.

Biographies
Abby Berjansky
Abby joined the team at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in August 2024 as the Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator. With a deep passion for serving others, she brings a wealth of diverse experience in nonprofit leadership and senior care. Prior to her current role, Abby held a leadership position at a nonprofit organization serving Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg Counties in South Carolina, as well as Brunswick County in North Carolina.
Before relocating to Myrtle Beach in 2020, Abby spent seven years working in the Senior Living Industry mostly in Orange County, NY (near Westpoint), where she held various roles, including Social Worker, Case Manager, Assistant Administrator, and Marketing Manager. Her career spanned nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult day health centers across the Tri-State Area (NY, NJ, PA).
Abby holds an Associate's degree in Travel and Tourism from Briarwood College in Connecticut, a Bachelor of Social Work from Dominican University, and a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University, both in New York.
Abby made the move to Myrtle Beach, where she enjoys living near the beach and being closer to her parents. She is especially passionate about the Bucket List program at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, a program that allows patients to fulfill their final dreams and wishes. Abby loves sharing stories about the program and the patients, families, and friends involved—it's a special part of her work that continues to inspire her every day.
Laura Long
Laura joined the team at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in August 2018. She is the Volunteer Programs and Veteran Coordinator for the organization, serving all 11 counties. She considers her 6 ½ years with LifeCare to be some of the most meaningful of her life. Laura views the mission of LifeCare – “To provide access to the highest quality LifeCare, education, and supportive services to our patients, their families, and the communities we serve” – as not just a career, but as a calling.
Laura holds an associate’s degree in medical office administration. She regards her work with the national We Honor Veterans program to be one of her greatest professional accomplishments. Under Laura’s supervision, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare was awarded the prestigious honor of obtaining the We Honor Veterans highest rank – Level 5. Her current responsibilities include ensuring that LifeCare retains the We Honor Veterans Level 5 status through annual recertification.
Laura’s love and commitment for our country’s military community began at birth as she was born in an Air Force hospital during the Vietnam Era. In addition to her father’s service, Laura was witness to many family members military careers including her 2 brothers, her son, and her son-in-law.
Laura resides in Elizabethtown, NC which is just 30 miles from where she grew up in Lake Waccamaw, NC. She is the mother to 2 sons and 2 daughters and the LaLa to 5 adorable grandchildren. She fills her now empty nest by catering to 2 pampered dachshunds and a mighty mutt.
