GS MOAA Dinner Meeting, September 8, 2026 at 5:30 PM.
The September meeting will be at Pine Lakes Country Club, 5603 Granddaddy Dr., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
Program: Welcome back from our summer break! John Bradley will kick off our planned activities for this fall.
We have a special sit-down prime rib dinner planned for this meeting. Last year's dinner was a big success. Bring your appetite!
We will also have a special guest speaker at this dinner meeting, Theresa Werner.
Theresa Werner is the Chairman of the Board, and President of Honor Flight Network. Theresa is the first woman to serve as board chair in the 20+ years since the organization was founded. The Honor Flight Network honors the military community by organizing and paying for honor flights of selected veterans to the Washington DC area and enabling them to visit memorials relevant to their service. Theresa will provide an overview of the Honor Flight Network, how it operates, and discuss plans for creating an Honor Flight Hub in the Myrtle Beach area. Theresa's bio is provided below.

Social time begins at 5:30 PM, followed by our program starting at 6:00 PM. A sit-down prime rib dinner will be served at 6:30 PM and the speaker will start approximately 7:00 PM. We expect to conclude around 7:30 PM.

Guest Speaker Biography
Teresa Werner
Theresa Werner is the Chairman of the Board and President of Honor Flight Network. Theresa is the first woman to serve as board chair in the 20+ years since the organization was founded. Theresa’s involvement with Honor Flight Network began in 2009. She lives and works in the Washington, DC area and has been an active volunteer during Honor Flight trips as a guardian paired with veterans, a bus captain, a tour guide, and even an entertainer. Her hands-on experience working with airlines, airports, veterans, and volunteers gives her a unique, operational understanding of the travel logistics that are central to Honor Flight’s success.
Theresa joined the nonprofit’s Board of Directors in 2018 and has been an officer for the last several years. As Chairman of the Board of Directors, Theresa’s leadership priorities include enhancing collaboration between the national organization and its more than 125 hubs spread across the country, as well as expanding Honor Flight hubs to geographic regions currently unserved or underserved. Her priorities as Chair are to strengthen cooperation with the Honor Flight network of hubs, address long wait lists of veterans to honor, and also support the continued growth of the network by expanding its geographic reach and planning to honor our next generations of veterans.
Theresa comes from a proud military family. Her father was a Navy Captain and Vietnam War veteran who served for 30 years—last as chief of staff for U.S. naval operations in Seoul—after which he joined Lockheed Martin. Her mother exemplified the role of a dedicated military spouse, actively involved in every aspect of supporting the mission, the family, and the military community throughout her husband’s career. Their service inspired Theresa to support and honor our nation’s veterans.
Theresa is a graduate of George Mason University, where she earned a degree in journalism. Her professional career includes NBC4 Washington, followed by work with the Associated Press. She has also held leadership roles including President of the Washington, DC Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television and President of the American Newswoman’s Club.
An award-winning freelance journalist, Theresa currently works with PBS NewsHour and Alaska Airlines. Theresa previously served as the 105th President of the National Press Club, the world’s leading professional organization for journalists, and made history as the first freelance journalist elected to lead the organization. During her tenure, she focused heavily on military and national security issues, interviewing senior leaders including the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, Commandant of the Marine Corps, and the Secretary of Homeland Security. Theresa’s journalism career has included planning and executing coverage of major national and international events—including presidential elections, the Olympic Games, natural disasters, high-profile trials, and breaking news events—requiring complex logistics, coordination, and leadership under pressure.
