GS MOAA Dinner Meeting, May12, 2026 at 5:30 pm.
The April meeting will be at Pine Lakes Country Club, 5603 Granddaddy Dr., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
Program: This will be our annual recognition and scholarship award event for the Horry-Georgetown High Schools' JROTC programs. The Color Guard for the evening will be provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Capt. Rick Roberts will speak to us and the JROTC cadets about leadership and his experiences in establishing and leading the Those Who Served Foundation. The Foundation helps veterans with PTSD and other disabilities through the calming effects of fishing and other interactions with the sea.

Please join us for our GS MOAA Dinner meeting on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Please do not forget your GS MOAA name tag if you have one.
Social time begins at 5:30 PM, followed by our program starting at 6:00 PM. A buffet-style dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. We expect to conclude around 7:45 PM.

Dress is business casual. You are encouraged to bring your spouse and other guests, especially if those guests are prospective members or are members who attend the dinners infrequently.

Guest Speaker Biography
GS MOAA BIO CAPT RICK ROBERTS, MAY 2026
“Captain Rick” Roberts is a lifelong waterman and son of a U.S. Navy Commander. He learned from his father a love of fishing, boating, and the profound sense of connection, peace, and healing being on the water provides.
After his father/mentor passed away Rick carried on his love of fishing and legacy of serving. He built an inshore fishing charter business that for 40 years made wonderful memories for families and friends. Feeling called to do more for veterans who had sacrificed much in their service to the country, he began providing fishing trips at no cost to them. He was overwhelmed with the numbers of veteran applicants with PTSD or other disabilities and their families seeking a day of peace and tranquility on the water when he could only accommodate 4 at a time and no wheelchair bound vets.
So, “CAPT Rick” decided to expand his outreach to emotionally hurting veterans and families and formed the non-profitThose Who Served Foundation with the goals to expand his fleet, create wheel chair accessible vessels and open the waterways to every veteran and first responder longing for the healing, joy, and connection that can be found on the water.
